KD TYKES

ages 2 – 4 (adult required)
Using different themes weekly, we creatively explore movement and how combining these movements with music we can create a dance atmosphere.
The classes are designed to be a fun introduction to the dance and movement world, as well as a social space in which parents and children can learn and grow together. If children are interested in pursuing formal training in a dance syllabus, we offer various weekday training from ages 3+

ages 4 – 6
As the children grow we introduce more dance technique and begin to incorporate different dance styles.

Creative Movement

ages 3 – 5

Creative Movement is a joyful way for children to explore movement through music, develop physical skills, channel energy, stimulate imagination and promote creativityCreative movement uses body actions to: communicate an image (the wind), communicate an idea (a journey) or communicate a feeling (strength)

Teach the foundations of classic ballet and dance technique incl: correct posture, dynamics, rhythm, body awareness and basic positions and moves.

Work on balance, coordination, musicality, creativity

 

Modern Dance

ages 6+

Derived from classical ballet technique, modern dance incorporates….

Juniors ages 6 – 10

We practice and refine the fundamentals learnt through Creative Movement and begin to add more complex sequences in the form of structured exercises and routines.

Classes begin to follow a syllabus whilst still bringing in elements of creative play and the introduction of musical theater

Students learn classic dance/ballet technique in a modern way; Pilates and Body Conditioning; Musical Theatre intro

Outcome:

Foundation technique is Habit, Physical strength & flexibility, Good recall, relatively complex coordination, good proprioception, musicality

 

Seniors age 11 –  16

Continue to grow and learn new more complex dance moves and routines

Introduction of new dance styles (Jazz, African, Lyrical, Contemporary…) for versatility. and more challenging musical understanding. Begin refining personal dynamics and style. Maintain strength and flexibility and continue to improve technique and habits.

Experience both competitive and artistic worlds of dance through local shows, competitions, outside choreographers etc

 

Professionals ?? age 16 +

Continue to grow and

learn challenging / very complex dance moves, continue to learn about new and different dance styles,

Maintain strength, compete, tour, perform and possibly earn money/start a career

 

 

 

 

Seniors Classes

Age 70+

 

Our gentle seniors classes help to improve strength and flexibility.

They focus on exercises that assist the management of age-related ailments such as:

  • Arthritus,
  • Oesteoporosis,
  • Incontinence and Mental deterioration.

Theses classes offer our clients a chance to meet and socialize with other individuals of the same abilities.

 

 

 

Adult Classes

Age 18+

Fun, energetic dance classes for those adults who are looking to get fit whilst having fun.

These classes combine Dance, Pilates and Stretching to provide a well rounded workout.
